How to fly the fever off?
How to fly the fever off??
This is the question which v all think about.. Many will go for vaccines, some for vicks, some for vapour treatments and some for traditional medicines, and some won't take care about that itself..
But i found that we can fly off the fever in just 1 day of complete practice of this..
All you've to do is drink two glasses of hot water with tulsi for every half an hour..
1st some amount of water with tulsi and add that water 2 tablespoon to a glass of hot water..
You can also add the tulsi leaves in the hot water if you don't want to mix like i said above..
I can definitely assure you that this will cure not only fever, but also running nose, dry cough and headache too..

Ten Foods To Help You Loose Weight
Ten Foods that help you loose weight and deliver health bonuses are :
1. Eggs : Eggs, which are full of protein, will help you feel fuller longer-a lot longer. A multicenter study of 30 overweight or obese women found that those who ate two
scrambled eggs (with two slices of toast and a reduced-calorie fruit spread) consumed less for the next 36 hours than women who had a breakfast of
equal calories.
2. Beans : Cholecystokinin, a digestive hormone, is a natural appetite suppressant. It is one of the best weight-loss pal. A study of eight men found that their levels of
the hormone (which may work by keeping food in your stomach longer) were twice as high after a meal containing beans than after a low-fiber meal
containing rice and dry milk. High-fiber beans can lower your cholesterol.
3. Green Tea : The slimming ingredient isn't caffeine. Antioxidants called catechins are what help speed metabolism and fat burning. In a recent Japanese study, 35
men who drank a bottle of oolong tea mixed with green tea catechins lost weight, boosted their metabolism, and had a significant drop in their body
mass index.
4. Pears : Pears contain pectin fiber, which decreases blood-sugar levels, helping you avoid between-meal snacking. This may explain why, in a Brazilian study that
lasted 12 weeks, overweight women who ate three small pears or apples a day lost more weight than women on the same diet who ate three oat cookies daily
instead of the fruit.
5. Soup : A cup of chicken soup is as appetite blunting as a piece of chicken. Researchers speculate that even the simplest soup satisfies hunger because your brain
perceives it as filling.
6. GrapeFruit : Its black. Researchers found that eating half a grapefruit before each meal or drinking a serving of the juice three times a day helped people drop more
than three pounds over 12 weeks. The fruit's phytochemicals reduce insulin levels, a process that may force your body to convert calories into energy
rather than flab.
7. Cinnamon ( Dalchini) : Reaserchers found that a little cinnamon can help control post-meal insulin spikes, which make you feel hungry. Research from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture confirmed it. With just a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon a day lowered the blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglyceride
levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
8. Vinegar. It's a great filler-upper. In a Swedish study, researchers found that people who ate bread dipped in vinegar felt fuller than those who had their slices plain.
The probable reason is; Acetic acid in the vinegar may slow the passage of food from the stomach into the small intestine. Vinegar can also cut down the
swift blood-sugar rise that occurs after you eat refined carbs such as white bread, cookies, etc.
9. Nuts : They are fattening. A handful of peanuts is about 165 calories. But research shows that people who snack on nuts tend to be slimmer than those who don't.
Researchers found that when a group of 15 normal-weight people added about 500 calories worth of peanuts to their regular diet, they consumed less at
subsequent meals. The participants also speed up their resting metabolism by 11 percent, which means they burned more calories even when relaxing.
10. Hot red pepper : Eating a bowl of spicy chili regularly can help you lose weight. The magic ingredient may be capsaicin, which helps suppress appetite.

Cholera
Cholera is an acute infection disease which caused by a germ called vibrio cholera. It spreads by the use of contaminated food or water. It is mostly spared through flies. The stool and the vomit of cholera patient are full of germs. The stools are watery and are white like rice. There is no pain in abdomen. If the frequent vomits and motions are not checked, the patient may get dehydrated and collapse. In order to save the life of the patient, early treatment of cholera is absolutely essential.
Prevention
The disease is preventable. The health department should organize an inoculation campaign every summer and every person must come forward to get inoculated. During an outbreak of cholera, boiled water should be used. The water in the wells should be disinfected with the potassium permanganate. Aerated water and ice-cream etc. should be totally discarded. DD.T. should be sprayed to kill files etc.
Typhoid
This is caused by germ called Salmonella typhi. It is a type of infectious fever which continues from one to four weeks. The relapse is very common. The germs of y typhoid are present in the stool. This disease spreads through the use of contaminated water and food.
The characteristic of this fever is that some persons, who are very strong, though they carry disease germs, do not suffer from the disease themselves, but they may pass on the disease to other persons. Such persons are called the carries of the disease. Flies also cause typhoid by first feeding on infected excreta and then sitting on human food. The treatment of typhoid is no more a problem after the discovery of a drug called Chloremphenicol.
Prevention
One should get oneself inoculated against typhoid. One should take only boiled water during the period when this disease breaks out. Milk should be boiled before use. The patient of typhoid should be isolated from other members of the family. During the treatment of typhoid, patient should be kept on semi- liquid diet. The growth of population is alarming. Lack or proper nourishment results in a number of children’s diseases like rickets, scurvy night-blindness, anemia and beriberi. Tuberculosis is also the result of malnutrition.
BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CELL PHONE
Today we all carry our own cell phone. We are so addicted to cell phones that our day starts and ends using this cell phone.
Besides its advantages, there are many disadvantages of cell phone to our health.
Very first side effect is addiction to our cell phone, we always keep it with us and anytime if we don’t find it, we get tensed ……..Tension is bad sign for health.
Talking for long on cell phones affects our health very badly such as getting pimples on corners of cheeks, dark circles. It is suggested to use Bluetooth or ear phones if you talk more than one hour on your phone.
Messaging is other addiction mostly in teenagers and college going students. They often chat till late nights and here mostly we use thumb for typing messages. As pressure is more on thumb nerve, nerve gets damaged ,resulting in pain.
Never keep your cell phone in vibration mode. It has got very bad affects on health.
Don’t listen to music on your cell keeping in high volume .It affects ear drum.
Never talk on cell phone when it is kept for charging.
When you talk on phone for long and you feel little heat is produced near ear by phone, do not continue talking.
Don’t carry cell phone in your pocket on shirt.

Not taking into account when the hysteria for the "swine flu" makes sense or not, the same argument that has been criminal in relation to this disease, especially by prohibiting the sale of the famous antiviral Tamiflu, produced by the laboratory. Under the pretext of protecting each of its own, progresses so absurd on individual freedom. This paternalism is immoral and inefficient, and contradictory. Enough of state paternalism.
Created the false news that is prohibiting the marketing of Tamiflu.
This version is a liar. What happens is that the stocks of medicine and Roche have difficulties just to refuel the market for the high demand for the product.
Spread that the public is without remedy, concentrated in the hands of MS.
Lie!
The remedy is available in the reference of health units in each municipality.
The reference units are municipal, state or federal. Depends on the city.
Because of Tamiflu create resistance to its use by developing variants of the virus more resistant, MS adopted the position of minister it only in cases effective.
Any doctor of the health system can order the medicine for a reference from your city.
There is no way to set an economic system without any intervention or participation, even indirect state and the corrupt in a country, there is no way to pass the responsibility of the obligations of the state to private enterprise electing the state as mere supervisory agent, is I do the opposite even to the detriment of the high taxes already pay no return ....
I support public private partnerships in all sectors, but I am against this absurd idea that the market and institutions self regulate without interference of the state ....
You more than proved that this is a lie
But I do not know why gostariamde suspend the football games. Mining was the first time that it was Argentina, which, according to media, is the focus Maor America South Then the time came. Later in a city, which I do not remember the name, have the game since the public uses masks. This sounds fun. After all the flu is a serious disease and as such should be treated seriously, or what?
We already have 12% of deaths caused by swine influenza in the world
While the days until August 1, represents only 1.8% of cases of influenza A (H1N1) in the world, the number of deaths in the country amounted to 8% of total fatalities recorded on the planet by the WHO. With the new deaths announced this week in the states bringing the total to at least 140 deaths, 12% of total fatalities in the world. It is the same percentage of Mexico, where the pandemic started.
With the high percentage of deaths by disease in the country for victims of the disease in the world, infectious disease doctors are beginning to put in check the strategy of centralizing the distribution of the antiviral Tamiflu, used to treat the disease.

Wonderful recipe for weight loss
On Diwali mornings, begin with a dollop of the strong-tasting Deepavali legiyam. Though almost all of us turn our heads and will not list it in the top 10 of our favorite eateries, it is very good for digestion.
Ingredients:
Omam -100g,
Sukku -10g,
Kandathippili -10g
Black pepper - 10g
Siddharathai - 10g
Cardamom - 5g
Jaadhikkai - 1/2
Adimadhuram - 10g
Jaggery - 250g
Ghee-100g
Honey - 50g
Method:
Powder each of the above (except ghee and honey) separately and mix it well. Add heated ghee and honey and mix well. Stir until it gets a halwa-like consistency.
For people seriously looking for some weight lost formulas. Anyone know any miracle remedies and DON’T just say GYM
I have heard that one can lose weight by drinking honey mixed in hot water in empty stomach. My friends have tried and it seemed to work on them but I personally feel walking is the best way to reduce weight.
Do you really want to lose/gain weight?
Best is to follow the glycemic diet. It is also called the GI diet. It is approved by doctors and is a good diet.
Try lifting as much weight as you can, eat bananas after a meal at least once a day and exercise every alternate day. One colleague of mine put on about 25 kgs (in 8 months).. He was grossly underweight and now looks hot. Don’t do much cardio exercise, but yes do weight lifting. It increases the appetite and it is a misconception that by doing weight lifting, women get muscles, not unless you overdo or have steroids.

Cinnamon brings blood sugar to acceptable levels. Weight lifting has many benefits. Appetite increases only when muscles have work to do. You have poor lean tissue, which is why you have poor muscles. Once you work out your muscles, it will start consuming more energy, which will in turn make you have an increased appetite. Try to increase the amount of carbohydrates and protein in your diet at that juncture. Lift heavy weights and do lesser repetitions.
The reverse works true for weight loss. Lift light weights and do repetition. This helps toning the muscle since in weight loss, we need to do more cardio to burn the fat. Hence when a person is hungry in weight loss, he should try to eat less carbohydrates and more fiber. But NEVER cut off carbs. It is a cardinal sin for dieting. Purely because by cutting of carbs is equivalent to running a car without fuel. But yes, instead of simple carbs, try eating complex carbs.
Exercise is useless without good dieting and dieting is useless without exercise.
If you only exercise and don’t diet, your body will gain shape but you would not exactly lose weight, but if you diet and even just walk, your body will gain shape plus lose weight.
Another important tip for weight loss: Drink 2 liters of water. Most of the times, the brain sends hunger signals when you are thirsty. Never wait till your tongue feels dry which means your body is already in water-starvation mode
Insulin resistance occurs when the body is resistant to insulin, hence the pancreas produces more insulin. The major work of insulin is:
1) To convert starch into fat so whatever I eat gets converted into fat.
2) Insulin levels play with the endocrine system, hence most imp hormones are affected.
3) Insulin resistance is different from being a diabetic. Diabetic people need more insulin and this is the reverse.

Insulin resistance, garlic, and weight loss
You must avoid rice too even rice contains sugar. I don’t have a way too much knowledge but nevertheless I will research.
Benefit of garlic: Having 4-5 cloves of garlic boiled in a little milk to empty stomach daily helps control blood pressure. I do this every morning for my dad. This has indeed helped bring his BP to normal.
Weight Loss:
1. Have heard that eating horse gram helps lose weight.
2. My friend’s sister lost weight by drinking elavan juice every morning for two months.
I too had stopped taking onion and garlic since 1998 but not able to find the reason. I think it promotes tamasic gunas in us, but I have a lot of Tamas left in me even after having stopped eating it.
Clove really helps toothache. Well this happened to me over the weekend when my wisdom tooth was bothering me. One clove kept near the tooth helped.
Elavan juice actually is tasteless. It almost tastes like elaneer. You can add honey or lime or something if you want. You just need half a glass every day.
Some things to do in case of heat due to "hot" foods in common places to reduce the body heat:
1. Soak a tablespoon mendhiyum over night. Grind and apply paste to head. This will not only reduce the heat in the body, its also good for dandruff, arrests hair fall and makes the hair soft.
2. Sesame oil applied to soles of feet actually reduces body heat.
3 Henna applied to feet, hands, or hair helps bring down body heat. It is a natural coolant.
4. The actual reason is that these foods affect the central nervous systems.
5. Also these foods actually "smell" different. We as a community are engaged in doing homas, prayers, veda reading and so on..so we cannot be "smelling" if you know what i mean.. Thats from the social part of it.

Onions and garlic are aphrodisiacs or not? Read this carefully
There is an old wives tale that Onions/Garlic are aphrodisiacs. Hence one of the reasons why widows were not allowed this in their food. 12/14/06 Ramanan
I was searching for Vegetarian restaurants in China and hit upon this piece of infomation on Chinese Buddhist Cuisine
Some Mahayana Buddhists in China and Vietnam also avoid eating strong-smelling plants such as onion, garlic, chives, shallot, and leek, and refer to these as wu hun (??, 'Five Spices').
One theory behind this Buddhist dietary restriction is that these vegetables have strong flavours which are supposed to excite the senses and, thus, represent a burden to Buddhists seeking to control their desires.
Another theory is that these are all root crops, and harvesting them requires killing organisms in the soil. The latter explanation is accepted in the Jain religion that sprung up in India at the same time as Buddhism, and quite possibly influenced its practices. A third theory is that these strong spices could be used to cover up the taste of meat. Practitioners were told to avoid dishes with these spices to ensure they could discern if food prepared by others was tainted by meat. It is unclear historically, what the original reason was for this restriction.
Drink 2 glasses of luke warm water in the mornings. No need to add anything like lemon/honey. Include a lot of slow absorbing carbs like wheat and wheat bread. Lots of leafy vegetables. Eating small portions of food so that the stomach is never empty so if one is eating at 7:00 am breakfast, then ideally one should try and eat a fruit at 9:00 am and so on cutting the intake of rice, though one can eat basmati rice once a week because basmati is low in GI. If one really is in a habit of snacking, then 2 cups of puffed rice is good. One can even make it like a dry bhel without the sweet chutney. Also sugar intake cannot go beyond 5 spoons a day. Eat lots of proteins, which can be found in pulses. It is better to avoid channa dal. Potatoes and chick peas are a big no. Try and eat a lot of salad and even sprouts, during lunch/dinnertime. Apple, pear, and papaya are excellent. Banana only to thin buttermilk/1 cup dahi/curd. No pickle/papad/fried stuff plus 30 minutes walking. This is what my dietitian recommended and it helped me.

How to get rid of fat from our body?
For fat flush, one 1 small Cabbage, 1/4 cup green gram sprouts, 3-4 capsicum, 1 bunch celery, 5-6 tomatoes, 2-3 onion, pepper and salt to taste. Boil all together and have as soup. I know someone who has lost a lot of weight due to walking and of course the cabbage soup diet.
Refined anything is said to be not healthy and surprise of surprises, our everyday sugar is included in this. So, if we eat lot of refined sugar it will result in emotional imbalances (in those who have funny sweet cravings) and also may result in insulin resistance, etc.
So, instead of refined sugar, jaggery is a good alternative, although I wonder how you can have coffee with jaggery. In US, you get brown sugar, which is a not refined one and is a decent enough alternative for refined cane sugar. But then, of course, pal payasam is better when prepared with refined sugar.
Drinking 1 litre of warm water and then vomiting it out daily once in a week (this is called jaladriti I guess) will also help in removing toxins from liver and promote a healthy digestive system. Wait for 15-20 minutes before taking coffee and better to do the above before brushing the teeth.
High BP balance, I remember (rather vaguely) that fresh lauki juice is said to bring BP under control - again to be taken in the morning - grind the juice in a mixer and strain it - no sugar/anything else
Green juice
This one I have read from the book "Health in your hands" by Devendra Vora. Taking the juice of fresh green leaves (add some chukku, nellikkai and honey) will give abundant energy and the best thing is it will not make one put on weight.
Cabbage is good because of high fibre but if one is having thyroid problems, cabbage in daily diet is not recommended.
Alternatively, one can toss carrots/spring onions and sprouts in a little olive oil for a great salad!(don't forget to add in little salt.

How to soothe the sore throat?
For soothing the throat:
1. Milk with honey is good especially if you want to go to a song class and haven't practiced yet, still your voice will somehow come out with this trick and teacher will not give you any scolding, but, note Milk plus Honey is fattening and it will make one put on weight.
2. Warm milk with a pinch of turmeric consumed at night before going to bed.
3. Panankalkandu (you get this in naattu marundu kadai) plus Milk consumed at night before going to bed.
4. Eat some rice with milagu jeeram podi and ghee. This will remove the excess heat due to which there is cold and whose aftereffects is sore throat.
A good constitution is one in which the centre of the head remains cool and the soles of the feet remain warm. This has been used by many doctors especially pediatricians that is why it becomes important to warm the soles and the inner feet. Also applying brandy to chest and the inner feet and the sole area helps when one is suffering from cold.
Fasting once in 15 days, would only eat 2-3 chappatis with jaggery end of day and jogging for 30 minutes in the morning made me lose weight like anything. Then, I was desperately trying to put on but fasting should be broken preferably with orange/lime juice as it would alkalize the acidic stomach.
Then, jaladriti that is drinking 4-5 glasses of warm water and vomiting it out once in 15 days cleanses stomach and is again helpful in putting on/losing weight.
Eating 2-3 of almonds soaked overnight in water made skin a little more soft. Using coconut oil instead of refined oil for making curries (only a little) made the skin look younger, removed the rashes/dryness.

Common misconceptions in herbal remedies
Coconut oil confusions
We educated people think coconut oil is "bad". Somehow, instinctively feel that it cannot be, neither ghee nor coconut oil can be "bad" if Ayurveda recommends them.
Interestingly, although we keep hearing that coconut oil has cholesterol, apparently all over the world people who have been using it predominantly Keralites, Philippines, Thai’s etc never really suffered major heart-related setbacks caused due to coconut oil.
Acid alkali balance:
What forms the basis of healthy human body is the acid-alkali equation. Human body is mostly alkaline. This is not to say that it is completely alkaline. Too much alkali will lead to alkalosis (if I got the term right). Some important points:
1. Fruits and vegetables actually have an alkalizing effect on the body. Fruit juices (without additional sugar) will alkalize. Most vegetables (except tomatoes) when they enter the stomach trigger the liver/gallbladder and alkalize.
2. Warm foods will stimulate digestion while cold food aggravates acidity as stomach will secrete more acid to break it down (something like defreezing).
3. An empty stomach means a little more acidic stomach, so alkalize using lime juice.
4. Fruits are better consumed 1-2 hours before or after a big meal and not along with a meal. They have an alkalizing effect and during main meal, we need a little bit of acid activity in the body.
5. Refined sugar has acidic impact so sweets and savories need some balancing after a while with lemon juice or just plain water.
I strongly believe that the current generation is under the myth that coconut oil, ginger oil and ghee are bad for health! But the fact is coconut and ginger oils are the better among ALL the oils in the market! Too much of ANY oil is bad, but these are better... These two oils can be used without any refinement. The smell is pleasing to human beings... But unrefined sunflower oil smells like shit! So by nature we are attracted to coconut and ginger oil and not the sunflower oil! We human beings have spoiled our natural ability to identify our own food.. We are the only animals who cannot recognize our own food entirely by its smell!
Ghee and honey when taken in limited quantities are extremely good for health. Taking ghee can decrease the cholesterol levels, but has to be taken under prescription as "pathyam" has to be observed when you take it. Anything taken in large quantities is bad.. As the saying goes Even nectar can be poison if taken in large quantities.
Chicken Pox is nothing to do with Fowl variety or chicken
If you are choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat and presto! The blockage will be almost instantly removed.
If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.
I have tired all sorts of weight loss programs like weight watchers, Gloria Marshall, Jenny Craig, sure slim, light and easy and i have done it, but for Indians being a vegetarian any diet is not suitable. So what I do now is my own diet. Taken from all these. Yes you should take more food when you are dieting, 5 times a day, so I follow:
Breakfast -- Porridge with 4 almonds, 3 dates in it and a teaspoon of honey.
Morning 10 am- 1 fruit (apple, pear, banana) take banana only twice a week.
Lunch - Any salad/ moong dal/ lots and lots of vegetables ( avoid pumpkin, carrots, sweet potato, potato and that is any root vegetable).
3 pm tea with any fruit ( one).
Have early dinner at 6 pm one cup basmati rice, any dal, lots of vegetable and you can fill you tummy with vegetarian food.
Treatment and curse
Your body has its own range of defenses against illness, called the immune system. It can fight off many diseases unaided if you are fairly fit.
Many diseases can be prevented by vaccination programs which make the most of the body’s immune system.
Antibiotics
Many diseases that are caused by bacteria can be treated with drugs called antibiotics. These were originally made from moulds and fungi, but are now made synthetically. They include penicillin and tetracycline.
* For immediate, short-lived protection from an infection, you might be injected with blood from someone who has already survived the diseases. The blood contains tiny proteins called antibodies which defend your body against the invading germs.
* You can be protected from some diseases by immunization or vaccination.
* For long-term protection, you may be injected with a killed it’s won antibodies against the germ, and so is resistant to further infection.
* Common diseases of the past- diphtheria, polio, measles and whooping cough-are now quite rare thanks to mass vaccination of children. Smallpox is now very rare.
*Germs- little organisms such as bacteria and viruses which cause illness –can also be kept at bay by proper hygiene.
*November 2002- Bill gates started an awareness campaign in India. It will be followed by the testing of an AIDS vaccine. If things go well, a vaccine that provides immunity from the HIV virus will be available in the years to come.
*Malaria- malaria microbes’ rabies antiseptic infection anemia tuberculosis tsetse antibodies anesthetic inflammation inoculation contagious vaccination flu.
*The severe cold- You will never catch a clod in Antarctica because the germs cannot survive in the severe cold.
*Diseases ranging- In a land mark achievement, scientists announced that they have deciphered the third human chromosome. This chromosome is the largest of all and it contains information about diseases ranging from obesity and eczema to cataracts.

Swine Flu
Three more people died of the H1N1 influenza Tuesday, with one death each reported from Pune, Vadodara and Mumbai, taking the total number of people killed by the viral disease to 10.
A total of 333 people have been affected by the virus in Maharashtra with Pune notching 221, Mumbai (81) and Satara (31).
This was the news heading in all TV News Channels.
This made me really made me think :
What is Swine Flu?
What are its types?
What are the symptoms?
What can we do in order to avoid/prevent it?
What to do if someone is suspected of getting infected?
From where this originated??
So I found these things from my family doctor.
What is Swine Flu?
The swine Flu that our country suffering is Swine Influenza A(H1N1) virus which was seen before in humans in U.S. and Mexico. It is a continuous swine influenza A virus that spreads very fast from one person to other. It is a disease of pigs. It spreads among pigs without any contact and so no symptoms.
What are its types?
Swine flu is a H1N1 influenza subtype and other types are h1N2,H3N1and H3N2. But the one humans are infected is not dangerous as compared to others.
What are the symptoms?
It is very difficult to distinguish between viral flu, cold flu or swine flu. As all these symptoms are common at the early stages. The basic symptoms are fever, cough, throat infection, cold, mild respiratory illness, body pain, headache, pneumonia, tiredness, chills, aching muscles, sneezing and loss of appetite. So its suggested that contact the doctor immediately. I say "Think the worst first". take these symptoms as for swine flu and consult a doctor to know more.
Even though the doctors also can't say regarding it by first sight, they need to keep a close watch on the suspected ones. There are few test that are needed to confirm whether its swine flu or not?
What can we do in order to avoid/prevent it?
The doctor, I consulted was not sure but gave me some simple basic things to avoid it:
1. Wear a mask or a handkerchief in public/crowded area.
2. Don't panic but be Alert.
3. If you know the area infected avoid going near to it.
4. Try to isolate yourself,if you live in a sensitive and suspected area .
5. Consult the doctor immediately if you see the symptoms in you or your family member.
6. If you have asthma, then go to doctor from a big hospital with proper equipments for the teating purpose.
7. Don't sneeze in open, use a proper cloth to avoid it from spreading.
8. Have a balanced diet, eat friuts.
9. Sleep well - as the time 2am to 6am (for Indians)is the time when your body gets upgradation of the immunity system.
10. Build up immunity system, as both point 8 and 9 will make you immune to this virus.
He also gave a Important list to avoid it:
1. Trust on bolied water only more than 100deg.
2. Take 2-3 leaves of "TULSI" in morning/ evening.
3. Change your clothes everyday or returning from any social / public place.
4. Whenever you come from out, please have a good wash of hands, foots and face with recommended soaps.
5. Avoid alcohol and smoking.
6. Since mask are costlier these days, please use handkerchief, scaf, and small towels.
7. If you have small baby in your home, please wash your hand throughly before taking him.
8) While driving in car, please close OUT-VENTILATOR when AC is on.
9. Bed-sheets, Sofa cover, phone Towels, Wash basic towel shold be changes in atleast 2 days.
10. Please avoid outside food like samosa, dosa, bhej etc etc etc for sometime.
11. Don't share any handkerchief or mask with anyone not even your family members.
12. Avoid going to crowded place like stadiums, big functions, vegetable market, party places(resorts, hotel,Pubs).
What to do if someone is suspected of getting infected?
The death ratio is 0.01% in out country(India) as there are not many cases of death(just 10) when we compare it to our population.
So don't panic about it, just consult the Government or Private hospital with proper infrastructure and equipments so as to handle the case in proepr manner and carry out the test.
If proper facilities are not avialable then just keep that person isolated to avoid spreading and clean all clothes of his/her properly, give him/her a bath with boiled water, make use dettol in water or soap, don't allow that person to public place, all usage of that person must be made separate like if he/she uses tiolet then don't make other use it also. Consult a doctor immediately.
From where this originated??
People those who work and are around swine gets it faster if that swine if also suffering. Mainly veterinarians and meat processing workers are at risk of infection. But the swine farm workers are the main source for this spread as it is highly contagious. It originated from North America and spread all over the globe as infected people may migirate to other countries as well. and we have many NRI people and since we were not alert and aware of such virus so it got spread in many areas now. But government has taken a proper step to check at every airport or ports from where other people get into India.
Suppose 1 person is infected and he/she gets into a crowded place say vegetable market then 2 persons will get infected in every 10 people as other 8 have high immunity for this attact of swine flu virus. And this way it spreads and in country like India we generally don't take this seriously.
Thats why I wrote this article to make awareness regarding "Swine Flu". There is no home remedy/cure for this so we have to rely on hospitals and doctors for proper treatment.

Calcium Protects Against Cancer
Every woman with a head on her shoulders knows about the importance of calcium for strong bones to prevent osteoporosis, a serious disease affecting older women. I myself have been a long time consumer of low-fat dairy products for this very reason (plus I love cottage cheese with almost anything). But now we have an added reason to wolf down the calcium.
New research has shown that women with higher intakes of calcium appear to have a lower risk of cancer overall, and both men and women with high calcium intakes have lower risks of colorectal cancer and other cancers of the GI system (this is from the February 23 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine).
The Institute of Medicine currently recommends 1,200 milligrams of calcium for adults age 50 and older, and the 2005 dietary guidelines for Americans recommend 3 cups per day of low-fat or fat-free dairy products. In the study, the decrease in risk for women was with intake of up to 1,300 mgs per day, after which no further risk reduction was observed. In both men and women, dairy food and calcium intakes were inversely associated with cancers of the GI and one-fifth of men who consumed the most calcium through food and supplements (about 1,530 mg per day) had a 16 percent lower risk of these types of cancer than the one-fifth who consumed the least (526 mg per day). For women, those in the top one-fifth of calcium consumption (1,881 mg per day) had a 23 percent lower risk than those in the bottom one-fifth (494 mg per day) with a most pronounced decrease for colorectal cancer. So what is it about dairy that is so protective against cancer?
Dairy is relatively high in anti-carcinogenic nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D and conjugated linoleic acid. Calcium has been shown to reduce abnormal growth and induce normal turnover among cells in the GI tract and breast and it binds to bile and fatty acids, which may reduce damage to the mucous membrane in the large intestine. So the bottom line is: even if you’re dieting, be sure to include that lowfat dairy to protect yourself against disease!

Wellness tip:
Two Things that Can Reduce Risk of Swine Flu Infection
Everyone’s getting concerned with the news of the swine flu virus spreading rapidly across the world and throughout the country.
It is important to understand how swine flu or for that matter any flu spreads. The two main ways it spreads:
If someone who's infected sneezes or coughs and you come in contact with the virus in the air.
The other is if you touch an object which may have the virus and you touch your eyes, mouth or nose.
It's common for people to touch their nose, eyes and mouth. Most of these actions are as sub-conscious as licking your lips or flipping the pages of a book or a magazine - or as you feel the itch you immediately rub your eyes or scratch your face.
Remember the virus can be anywhere - a door knob, a remote control, phones, computer keyboards, etc. The idea is not to get paranoid and stop using them. A simple precaution could protect you from infection.
Preventive Measures for Swine Flu
These are Universal Precautionary measures for any airborne respiratory infections.
1. Stay home if you are sick
2. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water
3. Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes.
4. Cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue or cough into your upper sleeve.
5. Cover your Nose/Mouth if anyone around is coughing/sneezing.
6. Avoid shaking hands and always wash your hands after physical contact with others.
7. Keep frequently touched surfaces clean ( telephone, desks, office equipments etc)
8. Limit unnecessary visitors.
9. Maintain a healthy lifestyle; attention to rest, diet, exercise and relaxation helps maintain good physical and emotional heath.
10. Avoid crowded places where risk of transmission of any airborne infection is high.
11. Avoid unnecessary travel to Swine Flu affected International / Domestic destinations.
12. If travel to Swine Flu High Risk areas required, use a Face Mask ( N-95 WHO approved for Swine Flu)
13. If one has Flu like symptoms or suspected to have been in contact with any Swine Flu patient, then contact the Doctors immediately.

Swine Flu Question and Answer

What is the new influenza A(H1N1)?
Influenza – A (H1N1) is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. Swine flu is a contagious disease caused by Type A strains of the influenza virus. First detected in Mexico in April, 2009, it has spread to many countries in the World. This was originally referred to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to those found in pigs in North America. Further on, it has been found that this new virus has gene segments from the swine, avian and human flu virus genes.
How do people get infected by the virus?
The A (H1N1) virus is spread from person-to-person. It is transmitted as easily as the normal seasonal flu and can be passed to other people by exposure to infected droplets expelled by coughing or sneezing that can be inhaled, or that can contaminate hands or surfaces. Droplets from a cough or sneeze of an infected person move through the air. Virus can be spread when a person touches respiratory droplets from another person on a surface and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose before washing their hands.
What are the signs and symptoms of the infection?
The symptoms of Influenza A (H1N1) in people are similar to the symptoms of regular seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, muscle and joint pain, and sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.
Are some people more prone to get affected by the virus?
Younger, older people, pregnant women, people with other medical conditions like diabetes, cancer, respiratory diseases are at higher risk of getting affected. However, WHO recommends that everyone take precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
Is it safe to eat pork and pork products?
Yes. influenza A(H1N1) has not been shown to be transmissible to people through eating properly handled and prepared pork (pig meat) or other products derived from pigs. The influenza A(H1N1) virus is killed by cooking temperatures of 160°F/70°C, corresponding to the general guidance for the preparation of pork and other meat.
Is it safe to travel to infected countries?
Yes. However, non-essential travel should be avoided. WHO is not recommending travel restrictions related to the outbreak of the influenza A(H1N1) virus. Please follow the Do’s and Don’ts provided ahead.
What is the infectious period?
Infection period for a confirmed case of the influenza A(H1N1) is defined as 1 day prior to the onset of illness to 7 days after onset.
What should I do if I think I have the illness?
§stay at home and keep away from work, school or crowds;
§rest and take plenty of fluids;
§cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and, if using tissues, make sure you dispose of them carefully. Clean your hands immediately after with soap and water or cleanse them with an alcohol-based hand rub;
§if you do not have a tissue close by when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth as much as possible with the crook of your elbow;
§use a mask to help you contain the spread of droplets when you are around others, but be sure to do so correctly;
§inform family and friends about your illness and try to avoid contact with other people;
§If possible, contact a health professional before traveling to a health facility to discuss whether a medical examination is necessary.
Should I take an antiviral now just in case I catch the new virus?
No. You should only take an antiviral, such as oseltamivir or zanamivir, if your health care provider advises you to do so. Individuals should not buy medicines to prevent or fight this new influenza without a prescription on self medication.
Should I go to work if I have the flu but am feeling OK?
No. Whether you have influenza A(H1N1) or a seasonal influenza, you should stay home and away from work through the duration of your symptoms and visit a doctor immediately. This is a precaution that can protect your work colleagues and others.
Can I travel if I have flu?
If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of influenza, you should not travel. If you have any doubts about your health, you should check with your doctor.
What about using a mask?
If you are not sick you do not have to wear a mask. If you are caring for a sick person, you can wear a mask when you are in close contact with the ill person and dispose of it immediately after contact, and cleanse your hands thoroughly afterwards.
§Wash hands properly using a alcohol based sanitizers on a regular basis (especially if touching the mouth and nose, or surfaces that are potentially contaminated)
§Cover the nose/mouth with a handkerchief/ tissue paper when coughing or sneezing
§Stay more than an arm's length from persons afflicted with flu
§Get plenty of sleep
§Drink plenty of water and eat nutritious food
Avoid crowded places
§Before travelling please check the Indian health ministry websites for information on affected areas/cities/country’s
§If infected three layered surgical mask is recommended for all cases and immediate family and social contacts
§All the waste has to be treated as infectious waste and should be discarded on a daily basis
§If you suffer from the symptoms, seek medical advice
§Shake hands or hug in greeting
§Spit in public
§Take medicines without consulting a physician
